Database Server Upgrade [17th July 2003]
Had you noticed the service getting a little slow the last few days? We certainly did! We had to periodically turn off the stats reporting to keep the shared database ticking over. We've now moved to our own dedicated database server from RachShack.net.
It will take a few days for the ISPs around the world to realise that StatCounter has moved from Hosting365 to RackShack. In the meantime it would be a good idea to use the IP address http://66.98.134.100/ to access StatCounter.
There were a few little problems with the transfer. Some stats were recorded before we realised that the time on the new database server was well off. We fixed the time as soon as we realised, but you may have an hour of extremely strange times for your stats. The second problem is that if you set up a cookie to block your stats. That cookie is only blocking from statcounter.com, you'll have to set up another cookie to block from 66.98.134.100. To do this, simply login into your account, and get StatCounter not to count you like you did before. Or you can wait three days when the transfer has gone through and everything will be back to normal.
If you've been trying to update your configuration settings without success. It means you've been doing it from the old server. Please login from http://66.98.134.100/ to update your configuration.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused, but some issues were simply unavoidable. The new database server has certainly given StatCounter a performance boost, and it is very responsive again. We'll be monitoring the situation very closely.
